Richard supervises day-to-day site execution — safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination on active builds.

Richard Owusu is a Site Superintendent at MODRN Inc. As MODRN's Site Safety Supervisor, he oversees and enforces all safety measures on active construction sites — ensuring full compliance with NYC Building Code Chapter 33 and OSHA regulations, maintaining the approved Site Safety Plan, and conducting daily site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments. Richard coordinates with foremen and project managers on high-risk activities such as crane lifts and concrete pours, serves as the primary point of contact for emergency services and Department of Buildings inspectors, leads internal investigations to determine the root cause of incidents and implement corrective actions, and leads daily and weekly toolbox talks tailored to the current phase of work.

Richard joined MODRN in March 2023, bringing a multi-disciplinary executive background spanning construction, cybersecurity, and financial strategy. He pairs his MODRN role with leadership of his own firm, ROC and Contracting LLC in the Bronx, where he has served as Owner and Chief Executive Officer since February 2023 — directing all phases of construction projects, performing cost estimation and bid preparation, managing P&L and project cash flow, drafting scope-of-work agreements and legal contracts to mitigate risk, and ensuring the firm remains in good standing with the NYC Department of Buildings, the EPA, and other regulatory bodies.

Richard brings cross-disciplinary expertise in safety, finance, and digital security to MODRN's project sites. He has implemented AI-driven camera technology to detect PPE compliance in real time, applies financial and project management discipline to anticipate safety-related cost risk, and oversees cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive client data, bid documents, and financial records. He holds the NYC Site Safety Training (SST) Supervisor Certification, the NYC Home Improvement Contractor License, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification, the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) credentials, and licenses as a Financial Strategist and Insurance Agent.

Richard has invested heavily in continuing professional development, completing certifications across leading institutions: Google Professional Certificates in Foundations of Project Management, Google AI Essentials, and Google AI; HarvardX's Contract Law: From Trust to Promise to Contract; ColumbiaX's Introduction to Corporate Finance, Free Cash Flow Analysis, and Risk and Return; OxfordX's Leadership Development and Strategic Management; and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Understanding AI: Capabilities, Risks, and Responsible Use certification.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Gerontological Studies and Services from York College at the City University of New York, and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Bronx Community College at CUNY. He is fluent in English, Fante, Akan, and Twi. He lives in the Bronx, New York.
